Frequently Asked Questions

Since we are a busy clinic, we sometimes have a short waiting list. Most patients are seen in our clinic within 2 weeks of referral.
While most of our referrals come from family doctors, surgeons, rheumatologists, and other therapists, we do NOT need a referral. Patients can refer themselves to our clinic. Some insurance companies will require a referral in order to get reimbursed for therapy services.
No. We are a private clinic and we do not bill OHIP.
We direct bill for WSIB patients and those who have had motor vehicle accidents. All other patients cover costs at the time of their visit and are provided with an invoice to get reimbursed through private insurance if applicable.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early as we are usually on time. Assessment visits are 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. If we are seeing you for your shoulder, please wear appropriate clothing like a tank top so we can properly assess. If you require a custom splint, you will likely have it made during the assessment visit and leave with it. If you have a phone, please bring it with you as we often record short video clips of important home exercises on your phone so that you can view them later on. Unless you have a WSIB claim or have been in a motor vehicle accident, you will have to pay at the time of your assessment, and we will provide you with a receipt to submit to insurance if applicable.
The Hand Therapy model is a combination of Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy practice. Therapists are cross-trained to deliver the same care through continuing education, despite their different base professions. In our clinics, you can see either an OT or PT and receive the same level of care. We do ask that patients check their insurance coverage prior to attending our clinics to ensure we have you see a provider that is covered by your plan. While most plans cover both, it is best to check in advance and let us know if you require a specific provider.
